Bot attacks are impacting businesses in every corner of the Internet, and are a much bigger problem than most companies realise.

Research firms have indicated that automated bots operated by malicious actors cost businesses 3.6 percent of their annual revenue with 25 percent of worst affected companies reporting a loss that equate to at least a quarter of a billion dollars every year.

In our conversation with Tamer Hassan, co-founder and CEO of Human Security, he says that 77 percent of all cyberattacks are bot-based and this is the singular most important problem in modern security. He adds that “Today’s sophisticated bots impersonate human behavior to evade detection technologies and essentially until companies adopt modern defense solutions that go beyond detection and blocking, they are playing a losing game.”

Formerly known as WhiteOps, Human Security aims to protect the integrity of the Internet by disrupting the economics of cybercrime and sophisticated bot attacks whilst keeping digital experiences human.

To date, the firm verifies the humanity of more than 15 trillion interactions per week, protecting many of the largest enterprises and Internet platforms around the globe. Since its establishment in 2012, Human Security has seen tremendous growth in its customer base and recently secured USD100 million in a funding round led by WestCap, with additional investment from NightDragon and other current investors, to further extend its growth.
