ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) is the global body for professional accountants founded in 1904.

The accounting body supports its 227,000 members and 544,000 students (including affiliates) in 176 countries, helping them to develop successful careers in accounting and business, with the skills required by employers.

Hishamuddin Jalil, Interim Country Head, ACCA Malaysia, gives an overview of ACCA, their key stakeholders and the services they provide to their members and students.

He explains what differentiates ACCA from other accounting bodies, and how they have evolved over the years, emphasising the four key areas of focus – relevance; data and technology; skills and careers and, innovation and collaboration.

Furthermore, Hisham says ACCA has introduced major innovations to its flagship qualification to ensure its members and future members continue to be the most valued, up to date and sought-after accountancy professionals globally. He adds that ACCA always ensures that their students and partners stay relevant.

He also talks about how the pandemic has made the role and functions of accounting and finance professionals become more significant and shares his view on the growth of ACCA moving forward.
